“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28
The world’s pressure to conform makes us weary. But God invites us to stop and set aside time to rest in Him. Another scripture says, “Be still and know that I am God”. Take time today.
Summer is a time for us to stop and recharge our batteries. The above was a verse Mike shared with us a few weeks ago.
Firstly, a big THANK YOU to everyone who has helped over this year. We will still have our services over the summer, but they are likely to be smaller in number.
The following will return in September:
- Women’s breakfast (1st Saturday of the month)
- Men’s breakfast (2nd Saturday of the month)
- Cornerstone Playspace (Baby / Toddler Group) – Tuesday mornings – 6 weeks on / 2 weeks off
- Student Group (returning September / October)
We are also about to finish our second Kintsugi course. Some background to the aims from their website:
Kintsugi Hope is a charity based in the UK striving to make a difference to peoples mental wellbeing.
“Kintsugi’ (金継ぎ) is a Japanese technique for repairing pottery with seams of gold. The word means ‘golden joinery’ in Japanese. This repairs the brokenness in a way that makes the object more beautiful, and even more unique than it was prior to being broken. Instead of hiding the scars it makes a feature of them.
We want to see a world where mental and emotional health is understood and accepted, with safe and supportive communities for everyone to grow and flourish.
We intend to run another course as soon as we have enough interest to make a viable group.
Things to look out for in the coming weeks:
- Changes to homegroups
- Sunday evening prayer (2nd and 4th Sundays)
- Bring and share lunch – Sunday 6th August (this one will be a “bring your own picnic”)
- 17th August – Games Evening at Chance and Counters
Services start at 10.30. There are teas and coffees before and after the service. We also have a creche, children and youth groups during the services. (Although not for the month of August, when our teachers / volunteers will be having a well-deserved break).
Wishing everyone a peaceful and restful summer. If you are new to Cornerstone, welcome! Come and say hello! We would love to get to know you more.
