Welcome to Cornerstone PLAYSPACE!

We are a group set up to provide an indoor play area for parents and carers to bring their babies, infants, toddlers and preschool children.

Tuesdays 10:30am – 11:45am(ish)

There is no fee at present, it’s free!  If you feel you would like to make a donation, there is a green box on the wall just as you come into the main room where you can place it.

We would ask you for a brief registration form (so that we know how to contact you if there are any unforeseen changes to the planned sessions, and also in an emergency,  who to contact for care of your child should a parent or carer be taken ill during a session) We would also ask you to sign a register so that we know who is in the building in the event of a fire. 

We run 6 week terms with a 2 week interval. There is a longer break across the summer as people are coming and going with summer holidays.

Each week has a different theme ( sports, transport, roleplay, animals, rockets & space, climbing and music), and there are toys relevant to different ages. Parents and carers are offered refreshments.  You are invited to bring drinks and snacks for your children to have at story time.

We have a Whatsapp group to share reminders of which week we are on within the 6 week series, and the theme. We post any nice photos taken, which are fun to share, but please do not share photographs of anyone else’s children outside of this chat. (There is a photo statement enclosed which gives you/your little one the opportunity to opt in or out of photos).  We also send any announcements of events or changes to the normal routine in that group.

If you do not want to be part of the Whatsapp group that’s no problem at all. We can keep you informed of announcements when you come and message you directly if for any unforeseen  reason we have to cancel a session. 

We have a story and singing time around 11:30am.  We start with a short, simple prayer, a Bible story and Bible song, then read a children’s story book (from the library or book box), followed by some nursery rhymes. We would love the parents and carers to listen with the children because if they chat amongst themselves the children get distracted, making it difficult to keep their attention.  However, even with all adults supporting, sometimes the children lose attention just because they are little.  It’s not a problem.

We sometimes include activities such as crafts, food prep, parachute games or planting bulbs, which the children enjoy.

Please make sure your children are supervised at all times, and stay close to them during activities which involve climbing etc… 

If you need to use the bathroom during the session please either take your children with you or make sure you ask a person you trust to supervise them.

There is a creche room available with baby changing facilities and chairs if you would like to have privacy to breastfeed. We would be grateful if you could avoid leaving your children in that room unattended. 

We are so grateful for the supportive, caring, friendly families that come to Playspace, and we look forward to welcoming any new families who would like to come too.

Safety in Cornerstone

• Every member of a team which works with children has been interviewed, produced references, are DBS checked and have regular safeguarding training.
• There is a link on our website called KASH (Kids Are Safe Here), which explains some basic safety principles we use in Cornerstone. It can be found on YouTube too at https://youtube/8n0-04dg28c 
• Our Safeguarding Lead is Rae Ladds.  Larry Sampson is our Trustee Safeguarding Lead. All contact numbers are on the posters at the back of the church. You can also bring any safeguarding concerns to the Playspace leaders who have access to the 31:8 helpline, which is brilliant at giving sound, measured and accurate advice.
